Bloc Party have released a new single ‘Flirting Again’ in the run up to their performance at Glastonbury this weekend. Check it out below.
The band will return to Glastonbury this weekend, with a performance on The Other Stage on June 29. To celebrate, they shared brand new single ‘Flirting Again’ yesterday (June 25), which lead singer Kele Okereke said was about dating again after heartbreak.
Through a distinctly Bloc Party, frenetic, indie-disco soundscape, the track outlines the uncomfortable chaos of “being thrust back into the scene and trying to remember how it all works.”
“It’s about trying to appear desirable, whilst at the same time hiding the hurt that defines you,” Okereke explained. “We are all carrying around the various scars that we have accumulated over the years, the heartbreaks that have come to shape how we give love and receive love. This song is about picking yourself up and carrying on.”

The gates to Glastonbury have just opened, where over 200,000 festivalgoers will be welcomed by a full bill of music, entertainment and much more up until the early hours of Monday morning (July 1).
Later in the summer, Bloc Party play their biggest, sold out, headlining show to date at London’s Crystal Palace Park on July 7. The band confirmed last December that they’d be playing their debut album ‘Silent Alarm’ in full at the huge outdoor gig, which will mark their 20th anniversary. They’ll be supported by Friendly Fires, The Hives (UK exclusive performance), The Mysterines and Connie Constance.
In the lead up to this colossal performance, they’ll be playing a warm-up gig in Birmingham on June 28, as well as shows in Belfast on July 4 and Dublin on July 5. Remaining tickets are available here.
Bloc Party’s 2024 UK and Ireland tour dates are:
JUNE
28 – Birmingham, O2 Institute
29-30 – Glastonbury Festival
JULY
4 – Belfast, Telegraph Building
5 – Dublin, 3Arena
7 – London, Crystal Palace Park
Earlier this year, Bloc Party finally released their classic track ‘Two More Years’ and other b-sides on all streaming platforms. The band’s 2005 single landed at Number Seven on the UK Charts upon its release and was pressed as a 7″ vinyl with the song ‘Hero’, which has also now been added to all streaming platforms, as a b-side.
The tracks followed the announcement in 2023 that they would be adding “every song missing” from their catalogue onto streaming platforms as part of their 20th anniversary celebrations. They previously uploaded their 2004 EP ‘Little Thoughts’ onto streaming platforms for the first time, telling fans they can “finally delete your dodgy MP3s and give the spooky skeletons video on YouTube a rest.”
