The singer shared her endorsement of the Democrat candidate in a post on her Instagram on Tuesday (October 29), outlining her priorities for the election.
“I’m Amy Lee, and I will proudly be voting for Kamala Harris for president of the United States,” she said. “There’s so much at stake this year, from reproductive rights to responsible gun legislation we desperately need, to democracy itself. Our right to have a voice in this place.”
“We need an advocate, someone who will listen to us and represent us with honour and integrity. I believe Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will help take our country forward.”
“Vote. Voting is a privilege we can’t take for granted,” she added. “Use your voice. Use it for something good.”
The election is taking place on Tuesday (November 5), with Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump roughly level in the polls.
Lee has become just the latest in a long line of entertainment stars to throw her weight behind Harris’ campaign.
Bruce Springsteen recently played at a Harris rally in Atlanta, while in September, Taylor Swift wrote that she would also be voting for the current Vice President “because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them”.
Yesterday (October 31), the cast of Marvel’s Avengers, including Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Don Cheadle, reunited to endorse Harris in an Instagram clip.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, a former Republican governor of California, has also said he is voting for Harris. “I will always be an American before I am a Republican,” he said. “That’s why, this week, I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. I’m sharing it with all of you because I think there are a lot of you who feel like I do. You don’t recognise our country. And you are right to be furious.”
Others to officially endorse Harris include Beyoncé, Charli XCX, Joni Mitchell, Chappell Roan, Megan Thee Stallion, Cher, Lizzo, Eminem, Usher, P!nk, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bad Bunny, Bon Iver, Quavo, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Mumford & Sons, GloRilla and Finneas.
High-profile backers of Trump include Kid Rock, Kelsey Grammer, Kanye West and Hulk Hogan.
In other Evanescence news, they are set to join Linkin Park and Metallica at next year’s Sick New World Festival, which is taking place on April 12 at Las Vegas Festival Grounds. Queens of the Stone Age, Gojira and AFI are also on the bill.
Amy Lee was also forced to shut down rumours earlier this year that she would be the new Linkin Park singer. In the end, Emily Armstrong, formerly of Dead Sara was unveiled as the band’s new vocalist.
Lee joined Korn on stage in Los Angeles for a rendition of ‘Freak On A Leash’ on October 5 at a gig at the BMO Stadium to mark the 30th anniversary of the band’s 1994 self-titled debut album. Evanescence had opened the gig, which also featured Gojira, Scars On Broadway, Spiritbox and more.
