K-pop singers Sorn and Hongseok of PENTAGON have released the music video for their new collaboration single ‘crazy stupid lovers’
Released on May 16, the new visual features the two singers as childhood friends-turned-lovers. The clip begins with Sorn learning that Hongseok has been granted a visa to visit the US for an extended time. Picking up her old video camera, she sifts through videos of the memories the pair have made together.
“I just wanna know if I could be the love of your life /The one to hold you tight, make you feel alright / You know that we’re just stupid lovers / They’d call us crazy stupid lovers,” they sing in the chorus.
Notably, both Sorn and Hongseok were previously labelmates under K-pop agency CUBE Entertainment. Sorn was a member of girl group CLC who debuted in 2015, while Hongseok’s group PENTAGON debuted the following year.
In an interview with KAvenyou, Sorn named Kino and Hui as two other PENTAGON members she would like to collaborate with. The singer shared that she remains close with her former labelmates, and that her “chemistry with Hui when singing has always been the best”.
‘crazy stupid lovers’ marks Hongseok’s first music release since he left CUBE in November 2023. The singer then signed with acting agency Andmarq in the following weeks.
Meanwhile, Sorn’s last release was the digital single ‘Cool’, which she dropped this February. The CLC singer has dropped a string of singles since 2022, after joining WILD Entertainment that year. These include ‘Sharp Objects’, ‘Not A Friend’ and ‘Nirvana Girl’ featuring CLC bandmate Yeeun among others.
Elsewhere in K-pop, Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany Young recently opened up about the differences she has observed between past and present K-pop acts. The singer shared that newer groups seem “half-hearted” during music show recordings. “One should always approach things as if it’s their first and last time doing them,” she commented.
