Today (June 3), STAYC announced their long-awaited first studio album, which will be titled ‘Metamorphic’. The record is set to be released on July 1, their label High Up Entertainment told News1 in statement.
‘Metamorphic’ will come about three-and-a-half years after the girl group made their debut in November 2020 with the single album ‘Star to a Young Culture’. Their last release as the August 2023 mini-album ‘Teenfresh’, led by the single ‘Bubble’.
The first teaser for the girl group’s upcoming album is titled ‘Spoiler’ and features footage of a broken mirror, album clocks and more, set to the sound of a ticking clock.
The second teaser, meanwhile, is titled ‘Waiting for only 1 thing’. It features a member of STAYC going up to a poster with the word “cheeky” in bold as they circle the number one, likely a reference to the album’s release date.
The official announcement of STAYC’s first studio album comes about three months after the girl group revealed that they were working on new music. At the time, the group teased that it would be a “fresh sonic experience” that is “brimming with diverse tracks”.
Last week, STAYC released their reimagined version of TWICE’s 2019 hit ‘Fancy’ for Spotify Singles, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the streaming platform’s ‘K-Pop ON!’ playlist.
STAYC also previously covered Spice Girls’ hit debut single ‘Wannabe’ live during the London stop of their ‘Teenfresh’ world tour in November 2023.
